    I am from North 颂歌ina. Grew up on cornbread and I LOVE IT, especially with chili, vegetable soups, etc.. I would NEVER put sugar or flour in my cornbread. And crumbly is fine, as it will be crumbled into the soup or chili. Cut it into wedges and serve with butter. I have always used self rising white cornmeal, and the recipe on the bag, which is 1 1/2 cups milk, 1 egg, 1/4 cup of vegetable oil, and 2 cups of the cornmeal. Always turned out great.
