Last year we spent the Fourth of July in the heart of DC and ended the day watching fireworks under the Washington Monument (there are a few photos of them toward the bottom of this post). I spent the majority of this week out of commission due to a little summer flu, so this year's festivities were low key (which was fine by me!). We took a little walk around the White House and the W, stopped for a cold drink at The Hamilton (it's been HOT in DC!) and watched some far-away fireworks from our rooftop.
